IICHR recently appointed a group of individuals from around the globe to represent our official International Information Committee.
This was done to ensure the integrity of the organization by providing them transparency into the internal operations of IICHR.
IICHR members have been carefully selected based on their previous and/or current credentials.
The job role requires:
- Update the committee on the operations of IICHR abroad.
- Voicing out any concerns regarding the integrity of all published information.
- Exercising their right to vote in order to change IICHR's strategies.
Astha Ramaiya: Africa
Astha is a University of Waterloo student in the faculty of Applied Science, majoring in Health Studies. Recently, she completed an internship at the World Health Organization for HIV/AIDS prevention in Tanzania. She was also the UW Financial Director of International Health Association and the receipiant of the President's Circle Award for Volunteerism.
Benjamin Zhu: South America
Benjamin is a University of Waterloo student in the faculty of Science. Recently he was appointed the chair of Engineers Without Borders. In his last internship he volunteered as the Director for Red Cross in Guyanya.
Ravinder Mand: Europe
Ravindar is a medical student at the University College Dublin. He has volunteered in the Emergancy Room and Outpatient Clinic at Etobicoke General Hospital. He has also volunteered for underprivileged commmunities in India.
Lv Cheng: China
Lv is currently finishing her Masters in Engineering at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Recently, she was appointed director of the Academic Student Union. She has volunteered with Greenpeace for prevention and control of the poisonous electronic components. She has also organized charity outdoor expeditions and training workshops.
William Patterson: South Asia
William Patterson is a university of Waterloo graduate, who majored in Civil Engineering. Since last year, William has permantly moved to Sri Lanka, where he has done conducted development work with The Economically ConsultanTcy House Of Sri Lanka for Water treatment.
Sylvia deLima: South-East Asia
Sylvia is a multilingual- volunteeer from Indonesia. During the Indonesian Earthquake, IICHR was quick to network with people in the affected areas of Indonesia. Again, within 48 hours, IICHR managed to pull real-time information on the humanitarian needs in every town and provided numerous contacts for each camp which was then immediately sent out as a press release to newspapers around the globe.
